{"id":1553,"date":"2011-09-09T19:02:09","date_gmt":"2011-09-10T02:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nerdhive.org\/glob\/?p=1553"},"modified":"2012-05-26T10:30:23","modified_gmt":"2012-05-26T17:30:23","slug":"quebec-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.soleillapierre.ca\/blog\/?p=1553","title":{"rendered":"Quebec City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2011\/09\/09<\/p>\n<p>Today I took the bus downtown Quebec City to see the sights.\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad I decided to take transit because (a) as expected, there is little parking to be had and (b) it turns out there was some kind of bicycle race on today, and some important streets were closed, causing traffic snarls.<\/p>\n<p>Circled the Quebec Parliament buildings for photos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.soleillapierre.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/d20110909_0006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.soleillapierre.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/d20110909_0006_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"d20110909_0006\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lots of statuary around here, but I&#8217;m not going to bother posting photos of all that. Outrageously, they forbid photography, so no pictures.\u00a0 It was a pretty interesting museum, if small &#8211; about one third the size of the ROM, at most.\u00a0 The science &amp; technology wing had a VIC-20 on display &#8211; that being the computer I learned to program on, I simultaneously felt a bit old and liked the recognition of its historical value.<\/p>\n<p>Walked around a bit more after that, but it was past 5pm and everything was closing down, so I decided to call it a day.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a little disappointed I didn&#8217;t have time to visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sepaq.com\/ct\/paq\/index.dot?language_id=1\">Quebequarium<\/a> &#8211; it would have been interesting to compare it to the Vancouver Aquarium.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s not a huge disappointment &#8211; maybe I&#8217;ll be able to fit it in on my return trip, but if not perhaps some other time.\u00a0 I&#8217;m already thinking I need to make additional trips to Toronto and Montreal in future.<\/p>\n<p>[gmap file=&#8221;__UPLOAD__\/2011\/09\/20110909.kml&#8221; type=&#8221;satellite&#8221; zoom=&#8221;auto&#8221; center=&#8221;files&#8221; visible=&#8221;true&#8221;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2011\/09\/09 Today I took the bus downtown Quebec City to see the sights.\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad I decided to take transit because (a) as expected, there is little parking to be had and (b) it turns out there was some kind of bicycle race on today, and some important streets were closed, causing traffic snarls.
